You've Talked About It. Now Let's Actually Heal It.
If you've been in therapy and still feel stuck on the same memories, triggers, or reactions — EMDR is likely what's missing. It's a structured, proven approach that helps your brain finish processing what got stuck, so it stops running your life.
"Some experiences don't process the way ordinary memories do. EMDR helps them finish."
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured, evidence-based therapy that uses bilateral stimulation — guided eye movements, taps, or tones — to activate the brain's natural healing process.
When trauma, anxiety, or painful experiences get "stuck," they keep triggering the same emotional responses years later. EMDR helps the brain reprocess those memories so they lose their charge — without requiring you to relive them in detail or talk through every aspect of what happened.
It's not about forgetting. It's about changing the way the memory affects you now. The American Psychological Association, the World Health Organization, and the Department of Veterans Affairs all recognize EMDR as an effective treatment.
More than trauma. Much more.
PTSD & Trauma
Flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance, and the sense of being stuck in what happened.
Anxiety & Panic
Persistent worry, panic attacks, and the feeling that threat is always nearby — even when it isn't.
Depression
Low self-worth, hopelessness, and beliefs about yourself that formed before you ever chose them.
Relationship Patterns
Avoidance, emotional distance, fear of abandonment — patterns that repeat across every relationship.
Addiction & Recovery
EMDR addresses the underlying experiences that drive substance use, not just the surface behavior.
Grief & Loss
Processing loss that has stayed raw, unresolved, or complicated long after it happened.
Negative Self-Beliefs
"I'm not enough." "I'm not safe." EMDR installs the beliefs that actually reflect who you are.
Phobias & Performance
Fear responses and performance anxiety with identifiable origins respond well to EMDR reprocessing.
A structured protocol. Real results.
EMDR follows an 8-phase protocol developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro. You don't start processing memories until you're grounded, prepared, and ready. You're in control of the pace throughout.
History & Treatment Planning
We discuss your history, identify target memories, and build a personalized plan — no pressure to share more than you're ready to.
Preparation
I explain EMDR fully, teach calming and grounding techniques, and establish the safety needed before any processing begins.
Assessment
Together we identify the specific memory to work on, the negative belief attached to it, and the positive belief you want to hold instead.
Desensitization
Using bilateral stimulation, we work through the memory until its emotional intensity decreases significantly.
Installation
We strengthen the positive belief to replace the negative one — "I am safe now" instead of "I am in danger."
Body Scan
We check for any remaining tension or distress held in the body and process it before closing the session.
Closure
Every session ends with grounding — so you leave feeling stable regardless of where we were in the process.
Reevaluation
Future sessions begin by reviewing previous work to ensure lasting change and decide what to target next.
What people say after.
"I'd been in talk therapy for years and felt like I kept circling the same things. After a few EMDR sessions with Douglas, something shifted that I'd given up on shifting. It's hard to explain — it just doesn't feel the same when I think about it now."— Adult client, trauma & anxiety
"I was skeptical. Eye movements sounded strange. But Douglas explained everything before we started, made sure I felt safe the whole time, and the results were real. I sleep better. I'm not triggered the same way. I wish I'd started sooner."— Adult client, PTSD
"What I appreciated most was how direct Douglas is. He doesn't sugarcoat things, but he's also never harsh about it. He helped me understand what was actually happening in my nervous system, and then we worked on it. That combination was exactly what I needed."— Adult client, addiction & trauma

Standard 60-minute EMDR sessions are covered by insurance through in-network providers. The 8-hour intensive is private pay only — no insurance constraints, no session-length limits.
Individual EMDR sessions focused on processing specific memories, reducing their emotional intensity, and installing positive beliefs. Includes preparation, processing, and closure phases within each session.
A focused, extended EMDR experience designed for deeper or more complex work. Ideal for those who want to move faster, have limited availability for weekly sessions, or are ready to commit significant time to a single focused session.
Private Pay OnlyIn person or from home.
EMDR works in both formats. In-person sessions use eye movements. Virtual sessions use tapping — equally effective, extensively studied. The research supports both approaches.
