Douglas Carmody, LCSW
Thank you for being here. I’m glad you found your way to this space. My name is Douglas Carmody, and I am the therapist behind Now and Zen Wellness—a private practice built on compassion, evidence-based care, and a genuine belief that most people can heal, grow, and build resilience with the right support.
My work centers on helping clients move through mental health challenges, overwhelming emotions, and distressing life experiences by offering full spectrum therapy rooted in education, training, and real-world clinical practice. I work with young adults, adults, and families facing anxiety, depression, trauma, negative thoughts, substance use concerns, mental health conditions, and other distressing life experiences that disrupt well being and daily life. My goal is to empower people to understand their symptoms, develop healthy strategies, and cope with the moments that feel too heavy to carry alone.
I draw from a blend of psychotherapy modalities, including EMDR therapy, cognitive behavioral approaches, and trauma-informed interventions supported by research and clinical evidence. As a trained professional and licensed provider, I help clients explore the mind-body connection, understand the sense-making process behind emotions, and build tools that create lasting progress. Healing is not linear, and it’s not about perfection—it’s about cultivating awareness, reclaiming your life, and learning to treat yourself with compassion.
Before opening my practice, I completed years of professional training, internships, and hands-on experience aligned with the guidelines set forth by organizations such as the American Counseling Association. That education shaped my clinical foundation and deepened my understanding of psychology, mental health problems, and the many risk factors that can contribute to disorder, distress, or substance use. My career has always been people-centered—focused on helping clients achieve meaningful change, regain a sense of agency, and move toward a healthier future.
In therapy, you can expect a collaborative environment where your story is the priority. Together, we identify what’s standing in your way, explore interventions that fit your goals, and work at a pace that feels right for you. Some clients come to address life transitions, some to treat trauma, some for support with overwhelming emotions, and others simply to understand themselves more deeply. Whatever brings you here, my role is to walk alongside you.
I believe strongly in accessible care. Through Alma, I accept Cigna and Aetna insurance, and I also offer private pay options. Whether you’re seeking guidance, trying to make sense of your history, or ready to schedule an appointment, you’ll find a calm, grounded environment designed for healing and growth.
If you feel ready to take the next step, you are welcome to explore what therapy might look like for you. Reach out, contact me, or book a time when you’re ready. You don’t have to navigate this alone—you deserve support, clarity, and a life that feels meaningful and balanced.
