Healing your past, becoming your future.
Healing your past, becoming your future.
My name is Douglas Carmody, LCSW. Welcome to Now and Zen Wellness! I'm a licensed clinical social worker with specialized training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), with a strong commitment to helping people navigate life’s challenges. My areas of expertise include addiction, trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationships. If you or someone you care about is going through a challenging time, I provide compassionate, evidence-based support tailored to meet your individual needs.
About Me
I’ve had the honor of working with people from all walks of life, each with their own unique stories, challenges, and strengths. My approach is compassionate and client-centered, and I specialize in a variety of areas to support individuals navigating issues like anxiety, addiction, bipolar disorder, depression, and life transitions. I find the therapeutic process to be incredibly rewarding and believe in creating a space where clients feel safe, heard, and empowered.
I understand that starting therapy can feel overwhelming, and finding the right fit is important. That’s why I offer a no-pressure approach—if we’re not the right match, there’s absolutely no obligation to continue. My goal is to help you feel comfortable and supported from the very beginning.
I am fully HIPAA compliant and accept new clients through platforms such as Headway and Alma. For those without insurance, I offer a sliding scale between $70 and $90 per 60-minute session to ensure therapy remains accessible.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a therapy that helps people heal from emotional pain caused by difficult life experiences. It’s especially helpful for people who have been through trauma, anxiety, grief, or upsetting memories that continue to affect their daily life.
Here are some of the benefits:
While both EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy help people process and heal from difficult memories, there are some key differences:
Both therapies are effective. EMDR tends to work well for people who want a deeper, more gradual healing experience, while Accelerated Resolution Therapy may feel more solution-focused and shorter-term.
If you're curious about whether EMDR is right for you, I’m happy to answer any questions and help you decide if it fits your needs and goals.
